Petitions we cannot accept
Part of:
Petitions
We will accept most petitions. We will not accept a petition if:
- it relates to a planning application, certain licensing matters, or a statutory petition such as requesting a referendum
- there is already a right of appeal or a separate complaints process
- it is vexatious, abusive, or otherwise inappropriate
- it is the same as, or substantially similar to, a petition submitted in the previous 12 months
If a petition is not accepted, we will explain why.
Petitions relating to other organisations
If a petition relates to the responsibilities of one of our partners, we will forward it to the relevant organisation within 10 working days.
If the petition relates to improving the economic, social, or environmental wellbeing of Trafford, it will be considered under this scheme.
Restrictions before elections or referendums
Some petitions cannot be considered during periods immediately before elections or referendums.
If this applies, the petition organiser will be told when the petition will be considered or published.
