Young people and care leavers
If you are 16 or 17 and do not have a safe place to live, or you think you may lose your home, help is available.
Contact Children's Social Care on 0161 912 5125 or contact HOST.
We will talk to you about your situation and the support you may need.
We will work with you to look at your housing options. Where possible and appropriate, this may include helping you stay at home or return home safely.

Centrepoint is a charity that supports young people who are homeless or worried about losing their home. They provide advice about:

- benefits
- education
- training
- employment
- living independently
Care leavers
If you are a care leaver, there is support available to help you find and keep a home.
A care leaver is usually someone aged 16 to 25 who has been in the care of a local authority.
The Trafford Care Leavers Offer explains the help available, including support with housing, education, employment, and independent living.
You may also get additional priority on Trafford's housing register. If you would like to apply for social housing, you can register with Trafford HomeChoice.
The Greater Manchester Care Leavers Guarantee
The Greater Manchester Care Leavers Guarantee brings together local councils and organisations to provide extra support for care leavers. This includes help with:
- housing
- education
- training
- employment
- health and wellbeing
Care Leavers Pledge
Many housing providers across Greater Manchester have also signed the Care Leavers Pledge.
This commitment aims to:
- help care leavers access safe, stable housing
- receive support to develop the skills and confidence needed for independent living.
